Lola and Avery’s Valentines

The sun begins to rise, and as it does the birds sing their song, as beautiful as the scenery around them. Morning dew from the night before glimmers as the sun’s radiant light shines through the droplets, creating a dazzling display, that would surely make anyone entranced.
With the fresh scent of flowers, Lola opened her eyes, to see Avery wasn’t beside her. Surprised, she wandered around the household to try and see what Avery got up to, whether she was perhaps making breakfast? Or was she going to work today? But she had no memory of her bringing it up…
Getting a little worried, Lola had searched every inch of the house with no sight of Avery, and so ventured outside into the garden to see no one there. Lola followed the dewy stone path into the forest, wondering if Avery would have gone to their secret spot to relax for the day.
Suddenly, Lola could see a glimpse of something moving in the field ahead, and so started bounding towards it, and it was in fact, Avery! Her back was towards Lola, and despite clumsy Lola making lots of noise to run towards her, she didn’t move an inch.
“Love, is everything alright? You had me worried!”
“…”
“Avery?”
Avery slowly turned around, to show a big, blushing smile on her face, and something she was holding close to her chest.
“Happy Valentines Lola!”
All of a sudden, Lola turned red, completely shocked and lovestruck.
Avery carefully opened her paws to reveal a tiny dandelion, that was frozen into a beautiful polished sphere of ice, to keep its life frozen in time, representative of Avery’s everlasting love for Lola.
“it’s…it’s-‘
Avery worriedly looks at Lola, scared that she doesn’t like the gift she had prepared just for her, but-
“ITS BEAUTIFUL! And its just for me?!”
“Yes! I wanted you to know how much I love you!”
Lola jumped into Avery’s arms, giving her a warm hug, followed by a gentle nuzzle and kiss.
Avery’s hair stood up, and her cheeks flushed like freshly picked tomatoes.
“You know I love you so much, Avery” added on Lola, as they sat there enjoying this moment in each other’s company, their hearts overflowing with love.
“You know, I didn’t forget to get you something either!”
Surprised but also intrigued, Avery looked down at Lola, as she giggled and ran off back down the path to the garden.
“Come on, silly!”
A smile grew on Avery’s face as she leaped to catch up with Lola.
Walking back inside the house, everything seemed the same, and Avery’s tummy rumbled at the thought of maybe having her gift be a homemade breakfast.
“Alright, close your eyes and take my paw!” exclaimed Lola, and so Avery did so.
Shuffling towards the table, a small, tissue wrapped present lay there with a label addressed to Avery on it.
“Open your eyes Avery!”
Avery opened her eyes to see the gift on the table, and gasped with excitement, looking at Lola, who gave her the go ahead to open her gift.
Carefully tearing the wrapping, it revealed a polished wooden frame with Avery and Lola’s name on, but then her attention shifted to the picture inside.
“LOLA, LOLA! IT’S US! IT’S-“
Avery laughed as she picked up Lola and spun round in circles. Lola blushed as she saw the pure joy on Avery’s face. Inside the frame, Lola had painted the two of them together, holding a simple dandelion, with the words, ‘I wished for love, and it came true’
The pair found a place on the wall where they could always see the frame, And Lola placed the frozen dandelion on the cabinet just below it.
The two of them then waltzed outside into the garden, to enjoy the beautiful sunshine, the gorgeous birdsong, and each other’s loving company, how else should you spend Valentine’s Day than with the one you love most?!
