Short Story!

There was lots of chaos among the sprites, as they tried to battle off the giant Chimera that had suddenly attacked and set fire to their towns. Io was not a part of the battle, she was simply watching it from afar, where the monster Chowling looked even smaller than herself! Io lived on top of a hill, within reach but hidden away from a quiet village. The village was basically deserted now though- either from sprites fleeing to a safe distance, or going to help with the fight. Being more of a recluse, she tended to mind her own business and not interact with anyone, but she was getting worried.
Io was perched on a smooth, flat rock, trees to her back and cliffside to her front. The view in front of her was as beautiful as it was concerning. The Chimera Chowling’s two side heads were ablaze in a strange blue glaze, and they seemed to not be able to fight anymore. Yet instead of slowing down, the monster seemed more enraged than ever. Large waves of fire shot through the air in great arcs, and plumes of smoke rose from the battlefield. If she concentrated hard enough, she could hear yells and see sprites whizzing through the air and around the creature's paws, trying to land a blow. Further away, just out of reach from the fire, there were tents with what looked like little ants running in and out, back and forth. It was more sprites, helping out the fighters. It looked well- organized, but she was sure there was wounded, and unsure of how the fight was going from this distance.
Wincing as the ground trembled ever so slightly, Io got up and did a little stretch. She knew she should go help, defeating the Chimera was more important than retaining her solitude for the time being. Turning, she trotted back to her home and squeezed through the door. Her home was filled with jars and oddities, for medicinal and for decoration purposes. She hooked a claw around one of her satchels and pulled it over her shoulders, trying to comfortably fit it over her snakeskin cloak. She looked around, spotting a few different herbs good for burn wounds and cuts, and shoved the jars in her bag. She may not be much of a fighter, but she was good healer.
Io grabbed a few fish and snake skin wraps before turning and leaving back out the door. She was hit with the slight tang of smoke, giving her a chill and causing the fur on her neck and head to rise. She would do her best to help in the battle. Io trotted down to the trail that led down the cliffsides, ready to participate in the battle against the monster.
