My future self ( sea jelly mecha , emet ) 503 words

To the person I hope I become,

This past year has been quite the ride hasn’t it! It feels like just yesterday we lost the keys to the J3LLY for the first time. Having to go dig around the bottom of the ocean trying to find that precious little keyring. Now look at us! I hope we’re able to keep them pesky things in our pockets this year (don’t leave them in the ignition, don’t be stupid), it would be nice to not panic whenever we feel our pocket is empty. In the same vain, please take care of your arms. Don’t forget to manage their upkeep— and obviously if you see any cool upgrades— it’s hard to fix a broken arm with only one arm (NEVER again).
I hope the seas are steady and that when we delve back into the depths we’ll find what mom left for us. Maybe we can just sit back in a reef and just… watch. Watch the light come down from above the water, golden shimmering rays scattering across the blue water as far as the eye could see. Fish scales shining and sparkling like treasure. Thats our treasure, our peace. Whenever I sit out there on the open sea, the J3LLY parked among various corals, hidden by the anemone that swayed in the gentle current, I can’t help but recall out first mission out here. Do you still remember?

We were separated from Mom, all we had was the J3LLY at the time. Young and full of anger- rage at the world that felt unimaginable. Alone and hot-headed we would spend days out at sea until we were stranded, out of fuel and barely treading water— thanks to our air reserves we stayed afloat. But we sat there in silence, dawn breaking over the horizon that stretched on forever. All we had was our emotions, we seethed on our own heartbreak and we blamed no one but ourself. I’m glad we know it’s not true. But as we sat there, the sun slowly breaking over the infinite expanse, we took in the beauty of the reef, watching from the large displays inside the J3LLY as all of the beautiful reef fish came out of hiding, rising with the sun. Schools of fish swam around us, utterly curious in the purest way. And we just took it all in, stuck in a trance. And we sat there nearly all day just… watching. Our later ventures we would leave J3LLY to explore ourselves, but, that first moment will always be special to me, and hopefully to you as well.

Don’t let your anger become you, we will find what mom left for us, even if it takes a hundred thousand lives to do so.

Above all else, remember where we came from.
Our ideals are inviolate— invincible.

Emet,

p.s. don’t forget to renew the insurance on the J3LLY this year, it’s up in a few months.

p.p.s. Please Don’t be so hard on yourself.
